7 Years to Grow Photo Competition - schools
Sunshine Coast schools, who collected a tree as part of the 7 Years to Grow (7YTG) program, are invited to share the planting of their tree within their school grounds.
Share a photo that includes school members, staff and/or students and your planted tree for a chance to win your school $200 gift card to Hart Sport or $200 Visa gift card (winners choice).
Terms and Conditions
General
- The Terms and Conditions of this competition promoted by Sunshine Coast Regional Council (Council) apply to all entries.
- Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
- By entering this competition, entrants acknowledge that they have entered into a competition to win the prize detailed in these Terms and Conditions and as listed in the Sunshine Coast 7 Years to Grow initiatives.
- Only entries that are received in accordance with these Competition Terms and Conditions during the competition period will be eligible for entry.
Eligibility
- Entry is free.
- The competition period opens at 8am Wednesday 23 July 2025 and closes at midnight Tuesday 30 September 2025. Any entry received after the closing date will not be accepted. Council takes no responsibility for late, lost, or misdirected entries.
- Entrants must provide a photograph that includes a selfie photo of school members, staff and/or students and the tree planted within the school grounds and answer all mandatory fields on the online entry form.
- Photographic images entered must have been photographed by or on behalf of the entrant.
- All photographic images must be captured within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area.
- The entries must not contain any material that is offensive, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening, abusive or unlawful. Any entry that (at the absolute discretion of Council) is deemed to be offensive, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening, abusive or unlawful will immediately be disqualified from the competition.
- Entries must be submitted on behalf of the school by an adult aged 18 years or over. The school is responsible for obtaining consent from a parent, carer or legal guardian for an image of their child (aged under 18) to be submitted as part of the entry and used by Council in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, prior to the entry being submitted to Council.
- No more than one entry per school is allowed.
- Entries will only be accepted via the online entry form. Any photographs sent through as hard copies to Council will be deemed invalid and rejected.
Use by Council
- Eligible photographs and stories will be publicly viewable within 48 hours after submission on the Sunshine Coast Council's website page.
- By entering this competition, entrants authorise Council to use, reproduce and/or exhibit submitted photographs and stories for the purpose of advertising and promoting the region, the community or any other Council activities, programs and events. The photographs may be reproduced in any medium. Council retains the right to crop the image for reproduction processes. Council is not required to pay a fee to use, reproduce or exhibit any photographs entered.
- Entrants warrant in submitting their photograph, that it is their original work and does not violate or infringe (or reasonably be expected to violate or infringe) upon the legal rights of any other person, including material which is protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. By entering this competition each entrant indemnifies Council against all loss, damage, costs (including legal costs) or liability whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the entrants' breach of these Terms and Conditions.
- All entries become the property of Council including ownership of all intellectual property rights.
The prize
- The winner of the competition will receive a $200 gift card to Hart Sport or $200 Visa gift card (winners choice).
- The prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken in cash.
- Submissions will be assessed against the competition criteria by a panel of three people.
- The winning entry will be announced on Tuesday 7 October 2025.
- The winner will be notified by email or phone. Council will obtain the prior consent from the winner to any media articles or social media posts if Council wishes to make such a publication about the winner.
- By entering this competition and providing contact information for the entry, entrants consent to their name, email and phone details being made available to Council, if they are the winner, for Council to arrange to send them the prize.
- The prize must be claimed by the winner by 31 January 2026. Council takes no responsibility for the prize not being claimed by this date.
- The results are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the results.
Council's discretion
- Council's decisions in relation to any aspect of this competition is final. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
- If this competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Council, Council reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to:
- disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process; or
- modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the competition, as appropriate.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, Council is released from all liability for any personal injury or any loss or damage arising in connection with this competition, including but not limited to the following:
- any technical difficulties or equipment malfunctions (whether or not under Council's control);
- any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
- any entry, photograph or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by Council) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Council; and
- use of the prize.
- Council, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to notify relevant authorities including law enforcement bodies and provide them with any unlawful image and the entrant's personal information.
Personal information
- Personal information collected by Council in the online entry form is used only for the purposes specified and is not passed on to third parties. Council is authorised to collect this information in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 and other local government Acts. The entrants' personal information is only accessed by persons authorised to do so in compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
